The Dumas Economic Development Corporation (Dumas EDC) was formed in 1999 to serve as the lead economic development agency for the City of Dumas and its immediate area. The primary goal of the Dumas EDC is to promote planned & diversified growth & the creation of new jobs, while maintaining and enhancing the area’s quality of life. To accomplish this, the Dumas EDC is tasked with developing proactive initiatives in the retention and expansion of existing business, the recruitment of targeted business, the “economic gardening” of business through cooperation and assistance and in the end, the retention of our youth through job creation and advancement.
Located along the Ports to Plains International Trade Corridor, US 287/87 is a major 4-lane highway that moves products between Mexico and Canada. Locally, this major highway sees over 18,000 vehicles daily. US 287 is being considered for Interstate designation as an extension of Interstate 27.
Interstate 40 and Interstate 27 are located 45 miles south of Dumas, Texas. Interstate 25 is located 160 miles west of the community, and Interstate 70 is located 160 miles to the north.
The Amarillo International Airport is located 45 minutes from Dumas. Dumas is also home to the Moore County Airport boasting the best aviation fuel and Jet-A fuel prices in the nation. Our General Services Airport has a 6,000 feet runway and an aviation business park.
