The company is looking for greenfield land to construct a new wood pellet plant. They need around 300 acres of land to construct the plant and for storage/parking/trucks etc. The new plant will have the capacity to produce 1.1 million metric tons per year. Construction is expected to begin in 2023. Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for the planned jobs is expected to be around $40,000. The construction phase of this project is expected to employ up to 400 people. After completion of the plant, the company will hire 80 full time employees and more than 160 indirect jobs. Their initial states of interest are Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and also California. The company sources its raw materials through suppliers who purchase wood from working forests and from sawmills and other wood industry manufacturers. The majority of the land needed for the project will be used for logs that are piled up to over 30 feet high in rows as long as 200 yards.
This is an active research project. This project has been identified and qualified by GSLI’s qualification standards. Though the company is conducting site selection on their own, our goal is to present new opportunities and create awareness for locations not in the original scope of consideration. If you are interested in a submission, please submit based on what information we have and we will attempt to introduce your area to the project for 2-3 weeks after the submission deadline has passed. If we do not hear back from the project 2-3 weeks after the submission deadline, we will release the contact information for your own personal outreach.
