Project Overview
New York-based medical supplies distributor is looking for a new west coast facility. Since the project’s largest contract is in Idaho, the company is trying to locate as close as they can to their largest contract. GSLI Project Director, Brooke Edwards, is working with the company’s VP of Operations to locate a site at this time. The client originally wanted a site picked out by March 2021, but they are behind schedule because of the VP’s personal life circumstances. After this project lands, the company expects to locate another facility in the Midwest within 18 months. The facility will be 30,000 sq ft. The project is looking for an existing building with enough parking for 75-100 employees. The project’s employment breakdown is: Office Staff 33,000-42,000.00, Supervisor 40,000-52,000 Management 50,000-65,000. Utility usage: water/year: 200,000-300,000 gallons. Special Requirements
1. Must be on a major highway or within 5 miles of one. 2. Prefers to be near a UPS distribution hub. 3. Prefers rural vs urban locations. Mentioned that it was okay to be within 30-40 minutes of a major city. 4. They need a good warehouse/distribution labor pool 5. Interested in any cost reduction opportunities. Motivations for the new location: 1. They are located in New York right now in a 30,000 sq ft facility that is 60% office and 40% warehouse. Location is too expensive to be sustainable and shipping costs are high to the west coast. 2. They need to ship to 50 states and all states need to have 3-day shipping for their products. 3. They are expanding their national presence for pack and ship e-commerce medical supplies.
