JEROME 2020, INC. / IDAHO – February, 2023 –True West Beef had a hugely successful open house on Saturday, February 25th. The day kicked off with a morning open house where over 200 supporters and partners had a first look at the new facility.
True West Beef representatives gave a project update, talked about the values and culture of the new company, and gave a short hiring update, before thanking Jerome and the community at large for all their support.
Special thanks were conveyed to the many folks that have been instrumental in their project support over the last 2 ½ years including, but not limited to, Governor Little and Lt. Governor Bedke, The Idaho Dept of Commerce, The Idaho Dept of Agriculture, The Jerome County Commissioners, Mayor Davis, and City Planner, Mike Williams, Jerome P&Z, the Jerome Building Department, the leadership and members of Jerome 2020, the College of Southern Idaho, the Region IV Development office, Idaho’s Congressional delegation, and of course the many project and construction suppliers that helped turn the True West Beef vision into a reality
Reprising his role as a poet, Jerome County Commissioner, Charlie Howell, read a fantastic poem that he personally wrote dedicated to True West Beef, just as he did at the launch announcement in July 2020.
Beginning at noon, additional community members began lining up to see the facility as the doors were opened to the public. Over the course of the afternoon over 3,000 community members had the opportunity to tour the plant, winding through the facility and having the chance to see and hear how beef production works while having the opportunity to have their questions answered by True West Beef employees.
“We were blown away by the number of people that turned out. We really did not expect that many people and we couldn’t be more grateful to the Jerome community for their support and interest in True West Beef. We are so proud to be a part of the community now”, said Jay Theiler EVP at Agri Beef, the managing partner of the True West Beef plant.
True West Beef will be the newest and most modern beef plant (and the nicest looking) in the United States when it opens in April. The company says it is still looking for people to join their team. Anyone can apply in person during regular working hours at the True West Beef plant at 6026 Hwy 93.
